Green Dot - User Online? was created by Konsider
I'm guessing the green dot on a user is the online status? Does this work by IP, as all my test users are online, even if logged out. Also, can you please add the ability for admins to hide their online status? Thanks.

Yes, the greed/red dot is the online/offline indicator.
It only works for registered users, not IP based anonymous users.

Even when a user logs out, the icon will remain green for the length of the "Session Lifetime" (minutes) value defined in your Global Configuration. By default, this is set to 15 minutes.

Session lifetime in Joomla 4 is a period of time in which an idle session is left open. It refers to how long a logged-in user can stay idle in a Joomla website before it expires and requires re-authentication.
So I wouldn't recommend reducing this value.

Ah, that explains things then. I would maybe suggest changing things so it doesn't extend the length of the session lifetime. I have quite a long session lifetime, and I'm sure others will too. Remember, the point of the dot is to indicate someone is online. If they have logged off, the dot should change too. If it stays way past the time they've logged out, then it's not really indicating online status :)

Also, hiding the admin (or any group) online status would be a good addition :)
