Shoutbox Suggestions

Hi Zod,

We have been looking into Ajax for a long time now however the problem being is that just like the other shoutbox module, however as a lot of people have said, the other module can be buggy, therefore we are trying our best to make it bug free and use the best methods possible. Our next shoutbox update will be in a couple of days most likely, therefore we will try to release it in the update after that.

I agree too, however we have tried several times to integrate Ajax just like the other shoubox module in the Joomla Extensions Directory and the problem being is the URL when the form is submitted. With Joomla + database driven functions, this makes life difficult. Security issues are also at stake with the other Ajax shoutbox as it is possible to post a shout in another user's username from an external website. This was brought to my attention when I once used it on an old website of mine and seeing as their shoutbox hasn't been updated in a long time, this is still an issue that people are unaware of.

So until we find secure and non-buggy method, we will need to stick to non-ajax for the time being.

However, our Pro Shoutbox that is currently under development will include a component and therefore be much easier to integrate ajax securely.

welcome back to the forum after all this time

Since your last post, the shoutbox has had some major work done to it, including lots of bug fixes and some handy new features.

- Archive: A long time ago, we started working on a small component for the shoutbox and one of the features was that it included the History of shouts. After a long think, we put the build on hold as it was taking quite a long time with the little time we had and decided to mainly focus on making all of our extensions as bug free as possible.

- Avatar Support, I would like to wait till Kunena 3.0 is released before this is integrated. I'm not sure when that will be exactly.

- User link: This feature exists in the shoutbox. You can link to Kunena, Community Builder and JomSocial profiles

- An easier Captcha, we do have our own little maths Captcha which is a simple "4 + 5" sort of question. I'm not sure if this feature was implemented before or after your first post on the forum.

- As for emoticons, we have added a fair amount of them but don't want to add too many, however should a user wish to add more, we will always show them how.

Things overall have admittedly slowed down with our development and new updates. This is primarily due to a massive amount of work going on at the moment, but we do try our very best

The next major update will be for our Accordion, then Social Slider, and then the Shoutbox.
